Pros: Easy to use. Requires no computer. Variety of DVD formats.
Cons: No audio output. DVD+R DL media sensitivity. Scene information doesn't transfer.
The Bottom Line: Would definitely buy it. Makes transfer easy and quick. LCD display is very handy. For maximum control, transfer using PC may be best.

Pros: Don't need a PC.
Cons: Only works as advertised with top of the line Sony camcorders.
The Bottom Line: Wait. Don't buy yet until they have worked out the bugs or made it so it will operate with non-sony products. Others are entering the market.

Pros: video to DVD works great.
also works well for backups to DVD.
Cons: broken flash reader - doesn't support 2GB SD!
The Bottom Line: Wait to see if they fix the flash card reader on the VRD-MC3. Otherwise buy the VRD-MC1
